Sainthood or Nothing

Becoming a real life Saint isn't easy, but it is what God calls each and every one of us to strive for.  But what does it mean to be a Saint?  We hear heroic saint stories of great men and women like Joan of Arc who literally fought for God and her country, and Saint Francis who rebuilt a church with his bare hands, and started a group called Franciscans who still exist to this day.  It would seem impossible for someone like me to become a great saint like that in this busy and loud world today, right?

The reality is, almost every one of these Saints have one thing in common, and it isn't that they did something great, fantastic, and amazing with their earthly life....

All the amazing things they did hinged on this one life altering, mindset changing reality: their absolute Love for God and for their neighbor.  They had one thought in mind as they went through each day:  How can I best serve my Lord today?  Then they allowed God to mold them and work through them in whatever way God chose. Each and every Saint had good and bad days, they had normal days just like us and did chores and cooked just like we did.  Their lives were for the most part "boring" as one might say. 

But we like to believe that as they labored joyfully for our God, this motto rang loudly with every beat of their hearts:

"Sainthood or Nothing"
