Proclaim Christ the King with bold faith in this Viva Cristo Rey T-shirt inspired by Blessed Miguel Pro, the courageous Mexican priest and martyr who gave his life shouting these very words — “¡Viva Cristo Rey!” (“Long live Christ the King!”).
During a time when the Catholic faith was outlawed in Mexico, Fr. Pro secretly celebrated the sacraments and served the poor with joy and humor. Disguised in everyday clothes, he snuck through the streets hearing confessions, offering Mass, and delivering Communion to those who hungered for hope. He was known for his quick wit and contagious joy, even under threat of death. When he was captured and sentenced to death in 1927, he faced the firing squad with open arms, clutching a crucifix and a rosary, and declared his final words: “Viva Cristo Rey!”
The design features warm desert tones, a radiant sunrise, and a cactus symbolizing the beautiful Mexican terrain where Fr. Pro helped others’ faith to flourish even in persecution.
