Serviam
In Catholic tradition, Saint Michael the Archangel is a beacon of strength and devotion to God. His name — which means "Who is like God?" — signifies his unwavering loyalty and role as the defender of Divine Will. As the commander of the heavenly hosts, Saint Michael plays a pivotal part in God's ultimate triumph over evil. We revere him for casting Satan and the fallen angels out of Heaven, upholding God's sovereignty.
Central to this devotion is Saint Michael’s cry of "Serviam," meaning "I WILL serve." In contrast to Satan's prideful "Non serviam" — "I will NOT serve" — Saint Michael responded to God with humility and resolve, dedicating himself to his Creator’s service. As Catholics, we’re called to follow his example, committing ourselves to serve God with the same steadfastness, especially when facing temptation and adversity.
