For centuries, Christians have proclaimed the kingship of Jesus Christ: not a king whose reign depends on armies, wealth, or earthly power, but the King who conquered through the Cross. Christus Rex, Latin for “Christ the King,” points to one of the great paradoxes of the Christian faith. The Cross, once a symbol of humiliation and death, became the throne of the victorious Christ.
The image is a powerful reminder of where our ultimate loyalty belongs. Kingdoms rise and fall, cultures change, and the things the world calls powerful eventually disappear. Christ remains. Wearing Christus Rex is a simple, unmistakably Catholic proclamation that Jesus Christ is King, and His Kingdom has no end.
